Airport officials in cities across Wisconsin are urging holiday travelers to be prepared when they arrive for check-in.  Passengers should know what the TSA allows and doesn’t allow in carry-on and checked luggage and pack accordingly.  Checking the status of your flight prior to leaving for the airport can save some headaches and arriving at the airport a couple of hours before departure is also advised.  The number of passengers traveling this Thanksgiving is expected to rival pre-pandemic levels.

The average price for regular gas in Wisconsin is down two-cents-a-gallon compared to a week ago.  Triple-A says the cost of gas across the Badger State today is three-dollars-and-12-cents.  The national average is three-41-a-gallon.  Drivers are paying three-12-a-gallon in Milwaukee, three-oh-eight in Madison and Green Bay and three-15 in Racine.  The price at the pump is three-oh-two in Oshkosh, three-14 in Eau Claire and three-18 in La Crosse.

It looks like Wisconsin’s economy is doing a little bit better than first thought. The state’s Department of Workforce Development yesterday said revised numbers show the state’s unemployment rate fell to three-point-four percent in September, and three-point-two percent last month. Originally DWD said the unemployment rate was three-point-nine percent, which is where Wisconsin had been for months. Wisconsin’s largest business group says workers will quit if they’re forced to get a coronavirus shot.  Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce yesterday said a new survey shows nearly 90 percent of businesses say they will lose workers if President Biden’s vaccine mandate for private employers is put into place. WMC says workers will either leave, retire, or go find a job at a business with fewer than 100 employees so they don’t have to abide by the mandate. WMC’s Kurt Bauer says

The Ice Age Trail in Dane County is going to grow. Dane County Executive Joe Parisi yesterday said they’ve purchased 40 acres of land to expand the trail near the Town of Verona. That would essentially double the trail’s size. Dane County is spending one-point-six million-dollars on the land, while Madison and Verona are each kicking-in about a half-million dollars each. County leaders still have to formally approve the deal.

Kyle Rittenhouse’s jury is heading into its fourth day of jury deliberations.  The jury did not reach a verdict once again yesterday. Jurors have now deliberated for three full days.  One of the jurors asked to take the jury instructions home last night, and the judge agreed. Wisconsin will not be changing who won last fall’s election. Republican state Representative Tim Ranthum yesterday filed a resolution in the State Assembly to ‘reclaim’ Wisconsin’s ten electoral votes.  He says widespread claims of voter fraud need to be addressed.  Former President Trump cheered Ranthum’s resolution yesterday, but Republican leaders in Wisconsin pronounced it dead.  Assembly second in command Jim Stieneke said Ranthum’s resolution is out of bounds, unlawful, and will not be called for a vote.  The legislature’s lawyers say there’s no provision

Wisconsin saw the worst of what the CDC is calling a backyard salmonella outbreak.  The agency released its report into the outbreak yesterday.  Nationally, over a thousand people got sick and two died.  In Wisconsin, 73 people got sick.  That’s the most illnesses in the country.  The CDC says the outbreak was traced back to the increase in the number of people keeping chickens and other birds in their backyard.  There were illnesses reported in every state except Alaska and Delaware.
