Pushback Begins for Biden’s Vaccine Mandate

There’s opposition and at least one lawsuit in Wisconsin over President Biden’s new coronavirus vaccine mandate. The state’s largest business group, Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce, yesterday blasted the new order from OSHA that all businesses with more than 100 employees require those workers to get their coronavirus shots. Inmates Mail to be Copied

Inmates in Wisconsin’s prisons are going to get copies of their mail from here on out. The state’s Department of Corrections yesterday said it will no longer provide inmates with the original letters and cards because of drug concerns. Specifically, DOV says it wants to keep paper that’s been laced with synthetic marijuana, or “spice,” out of prisons. An outside company, and not prison guards, will do the copying.

NFL Grabs COVID-19 Playbook

An investigation is underway by the NFL into whether the Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers followed proper COVID-19 protocols as set out by the league.  Packers CEO Mark Murphy tells WTMJ-TV the team is cooperating with the league’s inquiry.  Coach Matt LaFleur says COVID protocols were followed at least inside Lambeau Field.

WI Students Steady

The overall enrollment at UW campuses dips a bit this fall, but is still better than enrollment losses reported nationwide.  The National Student Clearinghouse Research Center says nationwide enrollment dropped an average of two-point-three-percent this semester.  Enrollment fell off by just over one-percent in the UW system.  Four campuses including Marinette, Manitowoc, Sheboygan and Green Bay saw enrollment increases.

Vaccinations Begin for WI Children

Officials with SSM Health say thousands of young children are set to receive their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.  SSM has only been making appointments for children five to eleven-years-old who just became eligible for vaccinations.  About three-thousand kids have been signed up in the first 12 hours of making the appointments.  Five-thousand additional kids have been registered for vaccinations at school-based clinics.

Racine Sheriff Asks For Felony Charges Against WEC Commissioners

The sheriff in Racine County is asking for felony charges against most of the people in charge of elections in the state . Sheriff Christopher Schmaling recommended felony charges for Wisconsin Elections Commission members Marge Bostelmann, Julie Glancey, Ann Jacobs, Dean Knudson and Mark Thomsen. No Threat to Public After EC Shooting Incident

Investigators with the state are looking into yesterday’s deadly officer-involved shooting in Eau Claire. Police say two officers shot and killed a knife-wielding man who’d just stabbed a woman at her home. Police say the stabbing looks like a domestic violence case.
