A Wisconsin investment advisor is facing charges related to money laundering and wire fraud.  An indictment accuses Stanley Pophal of accepting money from investors and using it for personal expenses and desires.  The money was supposed to be invested into his business interests involving buying and converting properties into residential apartments.  Pophal was indicted by a federal grand jury on ten counts last week.  Seven counts of wire fraud and three counts of money laundering.

Dane County officials say the death of a man found in a manure pit appears to be accidental.  Deputies were called to the 2100 block of state trunk Highway 19 over reports of a suspicious circumstance.  There they found a 62-year-old man’s remains in a manure pit.  The agency says the man was not associated with the farm nor does he have a permanent address.  The circumstances are still being investigated. 

Wisconsin’s Lieutenant Governor paid a visit to the western portion of the Badger State on Tuesday.  Among her stops, Sara Rodriguez visited the River Source Family Center in Chippewa Falls.  The facility is a non profit that provides resources to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.  In remarks at the center, Rodriguez highlighted the importance of funding for programs like those offered at River Source.  Sara Rodriguez is so far the only announced Democratic candidate for the 2026 Wisconsin

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is taking steps to protect its customers from scams.  The agency announced Tuesday that it published a new page dedicated to informing Wisconsinites of what a DMV scam could look like.  Recently scammers have disguised themselves as the state’s Division of Motor Vehicles, pretending to notify consumers of outstanding tickets and unpaid balances.  The page also provides tips on what to do if you’ve been scammed.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is getting surgery ahead of the new season.  General manager Brian Gutekunst said on Tuesday that Love would be go into surgery that day for a left thumb injury suffered during Saturday’s preseason game.  It’s expected to be a quick recovery, meaning Love won’t miss their Week One game against the Detroit Lions.

The Fox River is at nearly record-high flood levels after more rain fell in Southeastern Wisconsin on Tuesday.  The Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says the river could rise to eight-point-eight feet today. That’s less than an inch away from the current record, set in 2008.  Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow declared a state of emergency for the region on Monday, and the state of Wisconsin is also under a state of emergency, after historic flooding over the weekend.

Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis Jr. has been appointed to the Board of Directors for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.  The organization, which aims to end hunger by providing food and resources to people without enough to eat, announced the appointment today.  Portis has been working with them for years by raising awareness about food insecurity among children and supporting collection drives.

Dairyland Power Cooperative has donated $14,157 to the Alma Volunteer Fire  Department following Dairyland’s 3rd Annual John P. Madgett (JPM) Charitable Golf Outing earlier this  summer. Cortney Javar Saffold, 38 years of age, from Minneapolis, MN has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, with three children in the vehicle under the age of 16.  A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle for traveling 80 m.p.h. in a 60 m.p.h. construction zone on Interstate 94 at mile post 72.
