It took about two hours to get an injured hunter out of the woods in Buffalo County. The sheriff’s office says a 32-year-old hunter from Louisiana hurt his leg while climbing a tree in the Tiffany Wildlife Area. Rescue crews managed to get the hunter out of the woods and to an ambulance. He was then taken to Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire with non-life-threatening injuries.

They’re off to a good start with the Christmas Village in Irvine Park. Crews started work on the village way back in September. Chippewa Falls’ parks Director John Jimenez says they’re on track to be ready to open the Christmas Village by Thanksgiving. Eric Hovde is questioning Milwaukee’s election operation as he continues to refuse to concede Wisconsin’s U.S. Senate race. We could get a new look inside Wisconsin’s divided Supreme Court later today. Chief Justice Annette Zeigler is due to deliver the State of the Judiciary Address later this afternoon. It doesn’t look like the leadership in the Wisconsin legislature will be changing next year. Republicans in the Assembly yesterday re-elected Speaker Robin Vos, and Democrats in the Wisconsin Senate re-elected Dianne Hesselbein as minority leader as well. Price County Sheriff Brian Schmidt reports the deceased individual along State Highway 13 in the Township of Hackett on November 3, 2024, has been identified as Blanca Jesenia Hernandez Portocarrero, a 28 year old female from Marshfield, Wisconsin. The cause of her death is being investigated as being related to a domestic violence incident. The Wisconsin Supreme Court is still making a decision on whether a state law from 1849 could still be applicable. The liberal-majority court heard oral arguments yesterday, hearing from state Attorney General Josh Kaul who brought the case to the court. He says more recent regulations passed by Wisconsin lawmakers should be law, not the pre-Civil War law. State Republicans have said the old law should be active again since Roe v. New data shows an increasing number of tips to the Wisconsin Speak Up Speak Out hotline. The hotline takes tips about bullying, threats to schools or students, and complaints about schools. The Department of Justice says the hotline received more than 52-hundred tips during the 2023-2024 school year — more than a 40 percent increase from the year before. The department says hundreds of tips were potentially lifesaving.

A new urgent care is now open in Eau Claire. The third OakLeaf Urgent Care location in the Chippewa Valley opened this morning. OakLeaf says it’s been focused on expanding since Prevea and HSHS closures earlier this year. The new location is on East Oakwood Mall Drive, with two other locations operating in Chippewa Falls and Menomonie. The new urgent care will have lab service and imaging capabilities. A Waterford woman is two million dollars richer after turning in a winning scratch ticket. Jenifer Barker bought the Cash Explosion scratch off at the Kwik Trip on Lapham Street in West Allis. The game launched in August with two top prizes of two-million dollars. Barker is the first winner. Odds of winning the prize are one in 280-thousand.
