Brewers Find Home Plate at Home Opener

 The Brewers are now on a three-game winning streak after winning their home opener.  They beat the Cardinals five-to-one yesterday behind a strong outing by starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff.  He pitched five innings and gave up no runs on just three hits.  The Brewers remain at home for their second of four games against the Cardinals tonight at 7:10.

Search For Bearded Dragon Continues

 Police in Menomonee Falls are looking for two people accused of stealing a bearded dragon from a pet store.  Police say the animal was stolen from Pet World on Appleton Avenue last weekend.  Anyone with information is asked to call Waukesha County Crime Stoppers.

 We are waiting for answers about what happened in one Altoona neighborhood last night. Several police cars and at least one ambulance were all seen outside a home in the Andrews Drive area last night. Police say there was no threat to the public, but they are not saying just what happened. We may get an update later today.

Half Million Dollars Bond Set in Madison Shooting

It’s a half-million dollars bond for one of the suspects in a deadly November shooting in Madison. A judge yesterday set Justin Burage’s bond at 500 thousand-dollars, cash. He and Chabris Link are accused of gunning down a victim in November of last year on Madison’s northeast side.  Link is in jail in Illinois and is waiting to be brought back to Madison to face charges.

Recount Confirms District 11 Winner

Nathan Otto is still the winner of Eau Claire County’s District 11 race. Otto originally won the county board race by nine votes, a recount yesterday trimmed that to an eight-vote victory. Election managers say the recount found that a single voter in Altoona was mistakenly given a ballot for the race. The recount failed to find any other issues or problems.

Lights Out On Winter Moratorium

If you owe on your power bill from over the winter, today is your last day to work something out.  The state’s Public Service Commission says today is the final day of Wisconsin’s utility disconnection moratorium.  That means power companies can turn off the lights for anyone who owes on their bill as of tomorrow. The PSC says utilities offer both payment plans and financial aid for customers.  The state also has some financial aid available for people who qualify-CLICK HERE

Wisconsin Gets to Work

Wisconsin’s unemployment rate continues to fall. The state’s Department of Workforce Development says the latest jobless numbers put the unemployment rate at two-point-eight percent for March. DWD says over three million people in the state are working, though businesses say they need more employees. Wisconsin’s jobless rate is almost at its all-time low, which the state saw back in 1999.

DHS Shifts Coronavirus Approach

Wisconsin is changing how it reports its coronavirus information.  The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday said it made a number of changes to its COVID-19 dashboard.  The biggest change is that the state will no longer track vaccinations on a weekly basis.  Instead, DHS will report vaccine doses on a monthly basis.  DHS says it is making the changes to stay in line with CDC guidance.

Another Offer For Kohl’s

There’s another offer to buy Kohl’s. Reuters was the first to report on an offer from the owners of the Vitamin Shoppe. The company is offering about 69 dollars a-share, which comes to nearly nine billion-dollars. Kohl’s rejected an offer of 64 dollars a-share, or about nine billion-dollars, back in January. Company leaders said that offer was too low.

More WI Counties Confirm Avian Flu

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) has identified new cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in Columbia, Polk and Sheboygan counties. DATCP and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) are working with animal health officials in response efforts. HPAI has now been found in seven domestic flocks across Wisconsin since March, when the virus was first confirmed in the state.
