Two Powerball tickets worth 50-thousand-dollars sold in Wisconsin were sold over the weekend.  The Wisconsin Lottery says one ticket was sold at a Speedway in Milwaukee, and the other was sold at a Kwik Trip in Hartland. Including the two newest winners, three Powerball tickets sold in Wisconsin won in the past week.  Both of this weekend’s winning tickets matched four out of five numbers and the Powerball number.

Multiple Injuries Reported in Eau Claire Co. Crash

On Saturday, August 16, 2025, at approximately 8:01 P.M. Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the intersection of State Road 27 and County Road N in the Town of Ludington for a two-vehicle crash with injuries. EC Woman Facing Prison Time

Prison time is being ordered for an Eau Claire woman convicted on federal charges.  Forty-two-year-old May Kong was caught in possession of methamphetamine and prohibited firearm on July 4th of last year.  She pleaded guilty to charges earlier this year and has now been ordered to serve seven-and-a-half years in prison.

Teen Injured in Pierce Co. Crash

Authorities are investigating a Friday afternoon injury accident in Pierce County.  They say a 17-year-old female driver lost control on County Road F in Clifton and struck a guardrail.  The driver was hurt in the crash and there has been no word on the extent of her injuries.

Search Continues for Vernon Co. Man

The search continues for a Minnesota man in Vernon County.  Viroqua City Police responded to a location on Friday with reports of a man who was wanted on an arrest warrant.  Police say that Nathan Gossman and another suspect fled the scene, though the other individual was later arrested.  Police ask anyone with information on Gossman’s whereabouts to reach out to authorities and not to make contact with the suspect directly. Raising Cane’s Adds New WI Location

Raising Cane’s will open its newest Badger State location tomorrow.  The popular fast casual restaurant chain will open the doors to a location on Wisconsin Highway 16 in La Crosse on Tuesday.  Special giveaways tomorrow will include free food for a year to twenty customers.  This will be the company’s seventh location in the state.

Amtrak Service Back on Rails

Amtrak officials say they’re cleared to start service again from La Crosse and Chicago.  A train derailment last Friday closed down its route.  Passengers were being rerouted through other tracks and bussed to destinations.  Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says there are concerns about this second train derailment accident in over two years  —  happening in this same area.  Authorities are still investigating the cause.

Former Players Sue Ex-Coach

Five former University of Wisconsin women’s basketball players are suing ex-coach Marisa Moseley.  They also name the university and a former athletic administrator, accusing them of enabling psychological abuse.  According to the suit, the players say Moseley manipulated mental health care, demanded private disclosures, and used threats to control them.  They also accuse the university of ignoring complaints and failing to act.  The lawsuit seeks both compensatory and punitive damages.  Moseley resigned in early 2025 after four losing seasons.

Cats Blamed for Apartment Fire

Wisconsin officials are blaming two cats for starting an apartment fire.  The fire happened yesterday afternoon in the city of Madison, where residents on the East Side reported smelling smoke, which was traced back to an apartment containing two cats and a burning stove.  A neighbor used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames, and four residents were displaced by the fire.  Fire officials believe the cats accidentally turned on the stove.
