Man Charged With Punching Teen At Sporting Event Takes Plea Deal

A northwest Wisconsin man accused of punching a kid at a youth hockey game in McFarland takes a plea deal in the case.  Jared Egger of Hayward recently pleaded guilty to one count of disorderly conduct after originally being charged with battery.  Egger’s accused of punching a 15-year-old that was celebrating a win over his team back in March.  Egger’s charges will be dropped as long as he fulfills his prosecution agreement.

OWI’s Stack Up in Dane Co. Arrests

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office has made three OWI arrests already this week.  The sheriff’s office says the arrests happened between Sunday night and early this morning.  The sheriff’s office says the three suspects have 21 OWI offenses between them.

WI Man Facing Charges For Involvement at U.S. Capitol

Another Wisconsin man is looking at charges for being inside the U.S. Capitol back on January 6th. Paul Kovacik made his first appearance on charges that he was at the Capitol during last year’s riot about two weeks ago. Federal investigators tracked him down using Google data that showed his phone inside the Capitol building during the riot. There is no evidence that Kovacik hurt anyone or destroyed anything, in fact he posted several videos from his time inside the Capitol. Kovacik

Walworth Co. Bus Driver Accused of Sex Crimes

 A Walworth County school bus driver is accused of sex crimes against kids on his bus. Prosecutors this week filed four counts of first-degree child sexual assault and two counts of exposing a child to harmful material against 39-year-old Matthew Gribben. He was a bus driver in the Delavan-Darien School District. Investigators say Gribben inappropriately touched multiple elementary school girls that rode his bus. Referendum Approved For November Ballot

Eau Claire is going to ask voters for more money this fall, but how much more remains to be seen. The city council last night approved a November tax hike referendum. There is no price tag yet, and there isn’t a specific list of just what the money will pay for. Eau Claire’s tax hike request comes as the city’s school district is looking at a tax increase question of its own. Polls suggest there’s not enough support for both.

Eau Claire is moving ahead with its coronavirus stimulus spending plan. The city council last night approved 13-and-a-half million-dollars in spending. The money is earmarked for the rest of the work on the city;s transit hub and a couple of new hires at city hall. That includes a new diversity, equity, and inclusion director.

New Plan Addresses Harassment of Election Workers

Madison’s mayor wants new fines for people who harass election workers. Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway yesterday introduced an ordinance that will allow the city to fine people up to one thousand-dollars for threatening, screaming at, or being disruptive to election or poll workers. The mayor says election workers should not have to worry about doing her job. She didn’t, however, have any specific examples of harassment in Madison. The plan is set for a vote next week.

State Rep. Addresses 2020 Election Probe

One Wisconsin state representative is once again talking about a do-over for the 2020 presidential vote. State Rep. Tim Ramthun yesterday reintroduced his resolution that would reclaim Wisconsin’s electoral votes. He says the Supreme Court ruling that declared ballot drop boxes illegal in Wisconsin means we cannot say who actually won the state two years ago. Formula Struggles Continue For Some Parents

Wisconsin’s public health managers have some simple advice for parents who are having trouble finding baby formula: Try something else. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday said parents should try another brand of formula, try foreign-made formula, or try breast milk if they cannot find formula in the stores. Parents have been struggling for months to find enough formula to feed their babies. DHS families with other questions should look into the WIC program.

See Ya Later, Alligator

There was another loose gator in Wisconsin, this time in Kenosha. David Prill says the small alligator named Chomper got loose while he was cleaning his pool. Neighbors found Chomper walking down the sidewalk. No one was hurt. Chomper was scooped-up and returned home. His adventure came after authorities found a gator swimming in a Fond du Lac County lake last week. That gator has been sent to an animal rescue in Michigan.
