It is a video that’s bound to catch some attention in Cincinnati.  Milwaukee Police Officer Herbert Davis’ family released a video of him breaking down Sunday as he watched his beloved Cincinnati Bengals earn a trip to the Super Bowl.  Davis had just been released from the hospital a few days earlier after being shot while on duty.  He wore his Bengals gear home from the hospital and while watching the game.  His family has launched a GoFundMe campaign.  So

Local Political Stage Welcomes More Players

There is another candidate for the statehouse in Eau Claire. Altoona School Board member Hillarie Roth yesterday announced her campaign for the State Assembly. She is looking to replace state Rep. Jesse James, who is looking to run for Kathy Bernier’s soon-to-be open seat in the State Senate. Karen Hurd of Fall Creek, who is also a Republican, announced her campaign last week. Roth and Hurd will face-off in the primary in August.

Thompson Rallies for School Choice in WI

One of the fathers of school choice in Wisconsin wants to see more families have more choices. Former Governor Tommy Thompson last week told a crowd at a school choice event in Green Bay that all kids in Wisconsin should have a choice as to where they go to school. Thompson helped create school choice in the state back in 1990. He says all families from all income levels deserve to be able to do what is best for their kids’ education.

Lawmakers Try New Round Of Election Law Changes

Republicans at the Wisconsin Capitol are trying again with a new round of election law changes. State Senator Kathy Bernier yesterday introduced a series of plans that build off the audit from the state’s audit bureau and the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty.  Among the changes would be new limits on who is considered indefinitely confined, a new requirement for social security numbers on absentee ballots, and a ban on the so-called Zuckerbucks partnerships.  Public health managers in Madison say they’ve discovered a new coronavirus variant. The county’s public health office yesterday said there is only one case of the new virus, but more are likely coming. Doctors say the new strain appears to be more contiguous than the original omicron variant, but they also say anyone who had the omicron may have immunity. Oh, Deer! Reminder For Drivers

It’s your annual reminder not to swerve to avoid a deer or other animal in the road. The Wisconsin State Patrol yesterday shared pictures of a semi truck that had crashed into the front of a home in Fond du Lac County last week because the driver was trying to avoid hitting a deer. Sentencing Planned for Accused WI Mall Shooter

The 18-year-old accused of killing a fellow teenager at a mall in Appleton will be sentenced this week.  Dezman Ellis will be sentenced on second-degree intentional homicide and first-degree recklessly endangering safety charges tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.  Ellis is accused of shooting and killing 19-year-old Jovanni Frausto at the Fox River Mall one year ago.  Another man was shot but survived.  Ellis took a plea deal and will face 40 years in prison.

Rodgers Out, Cousins In

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will not play in the Pro Bowl.  It was announced this morning Rodgers has opted out of the game because of injury.  He will be replaced by Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins.  This is the third time Cousins has made the Pro Bowl as a fill-in and he’s never been named to the initial roster.

Funding Lands at CV Regional Airport
