On the evening of Thursday, Aug. 21, a full-scale exercise will occur at the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport.  This exercise will involve emergency crews from Eau Claire Fire Department, the Airport Rescue and  Firefighting (ARFF) crews, additional surrounding fire and EMS agencies, and emergency management  personnel from Chippewa and Eau Claire Counties.  The scenario will involve a large military aircraft simulating bringing dozens of wounded service members to  the Chippewa Valley and other hospitals throughout western Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota

The 19th Annual OpenAir Classic Tour (OAC XIX) will roll into Eau Claire August 21–24, 2025, bringing up to 200 convertibles, T-Tops, and open-top Jeep-type vehicles for a four-day driving adventure through northwest Wisconsin.  Known as “the most spectacular convertible auto tour in the country,” the OpenAir Classic takes participants on scenic two-lane roads that wind along river valleys, ridges, and bluffs, with checkpoints at wineries, historic landmarks, and cultural attractions.

The search for a suspect being sought since Friday has ended.  Police in Vernon County responded to a location that day with reports of a man who was wanted on an arrest warrant.  Police say that Nathan Gossman and another suspect fled the scene, leading officers in a high-speed chase.  The other individual was later arrested.  Gossman has since been arrested in his native Minnesota.

A St. Croix County man is being identified as the person killed in a Pierce County motorcycle crash.  The accident happened Sunday afternoon in El Paso Township.  Authorities say that 67-year-old Dale Johnson was riding on 650th Avenue when he lost control and hit a ditch.  Johnson died at the scene.

The Red Cross of Wisconsin is actively looking for volunteers after parts of the state saw severe flooding last week.  The organization says all volunteer types are welcome, but they’re needing Disaster Action Team Volunteers the most.  No experience is needed to volunteer with the Red Cross.  They provide training and a variety of assignments in short and long-term roles.  MORE DETAILS WITH AN EASY CLICK HERE!

The Wisconsin Art of Cheese Festival is back next month.  Organizers announced Monday that this year’s event would take place from September 25th to the 28th.  Attendees will get the chance to look at the behind-the-scenes action of legendary creameries and attend other unique excursions.  There will also be a cheese fair happening alongside the Dane County Farmers’ Market.  Twenty-nine exclusive ticketed events are being offered. 

A sergeant in Jackson County is now facing charges after a shooting that critically injured a teenage suspect.  The Sheriff’s Office says the sergeant was part of a police chase led with a 17-year-old who took his mother’s car without permission.  The teen stopped the car in Hixton, where Sergeant Stan Edington shot into the car 22 times. The suspect sustained a spinal cord injury, which could lead to permanent paralysis.  Edington is now facing a charge of second-degree reckless

A Wisconsin teen accused of killing his mother and stepfather before being arrested in rural Kansas was in court for a status hearing today.  Police say 17-year-old Nikita Casap fled the state after murdering Tatiana and Daniel Meyer in their Waukesha home.  Federal investigators say the suspect was plotting to assassinate President Donald Trump and wanted his parents’ money to start a political revolution in the US.  Casap is pleading not guilty to two counts of first-degree intentional homicide and

Antlerless harvest season authorizations are now available for purchase.  The Department of Natural Resources says the authorizations will be valid for northern and central forest zones.  Central farmland zone authorizations will be on sale starting tomorrow, with the southern farmland zone following on Wednesday.  Authorizations for all zones will be available on Thursday.  More information is available WITH AN EASY CLICK HERE.
