On February 23, 2022, at approximately 12:16am, a Lake Hallie Police Officer was on patrol when he observed a dark colored SUV pulling a white camper on Hallie Road near 22nd Avenue, Lake Hallie, with the camper having no rear taillights activated.  A jury has found three former Minneapolis police officers guilty for violating George Floyd’s civil rights.  The jury said the three men violated Floyd’s civil rights when they failed to provide Floyd with medical care as Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck during an arrest two years ago.

WI Booster Rates Remain Below 35%

Wisconsin health leaders say fewer than 33-percent of Wisconsin residents have the coronavirus booster shot.  That number includes people who aren’t eligible for the booster.  The Wisconsin Department of Health Services says it’s using the new data to determine where more vaccine outreach needs to take place. WI City Sees Dip in Crime

Crime in Janesville is the lowest it’s been in decades.  Crime statistics recently released by the police department show crime decreased by 14-percent from 2020 to 2021, following a nationwide trend.  Police say Janesville is averaging just over two-thousand crimes per 100-thousand people a year.  That’s the lowest crime rate in 40 years.

Jury Deliberates in MN

 Minnesota is on verdict watch in the death of George Floyd.  A jury in the civil rights trial got the case yesterday and will continue deliberating today.  They’re deciding the fate of three former officers accused of not trying to save Floyd’s life during an arrest two years ago.  Two helped to hold him down and a third was on crowd control.  The men claim they trusted their senior officer Derek Chauvin’s use of force.  He was convicted of murder.

Longtime Detective Announces Campaign For Sherriff

A longtime detective with the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office wants to take the top job.  Detective Don Henning announced his campaign yesterday.  Henning has been with the sheriff’s office since 1995, he’s been a detective since 2010.  Henning says he’s born and raised in Eau Claire, and wants to take on the challenge of running the sheriff’s office.  Sheriff Ron Cramer this month announced that he is not running for re-election in November.

Judge Not Buying Apology From WI Car Thief

One of Milwaukee’s most prolific car thieves is headed to prison for 15 years.  A judge yesterday told 20-year-old Lazarion Gaillard that he is essentially a one man crime spree.  Prosecutors say Gaillard stole as many as 15 luxury cars in just two weeks.  They say he stole other cars as well.  Milwaukee Police say Gaillard would often break into people’s homes, steal their keys, then take their cars.  Gaillard apologized for his crimes, but the judge didn’t buy it.
