Former UW- La Crosse Chancellor Files Lawsuit

A court date is being set for a lawsuit filed by former UW-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow against the university.  Gow claims his termination last year was a violation of his First Amendment rights.  Gow was fired after it came to light that he and his wife had been creating porn videos and posting them online.  He says that posting the videos was a form of free speech and self-expression.  The trial date has been set for June 22nd of

Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Bust

Charges are being filed against a driver pulled over this past weekend in Holmen.  Twenty-eight-year-old Mayking Murillo-Palacios was stopped Saturday and police are reporting drugs were found in his vehicle during a search.  They say they found an estimated 170 grams of suspected cocaine in the vehicle.  The suspect — who was already free on ten separate bonds — is now facing a charge of possession with the intent to deliver cocaine along with five felony counts of bail jumping

WI DNR Reminds Boaters of Water Safety

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is warning boaters to keep the waters safe over July 4th weekend.  Law enforcement is taking part in an annual campaign to prevent boating while impaired.  Officials say boating under the influence is illegal in Wisconsin.  Impairment from alcohol or drugs significantly increases the risk of incidents, injuries and death.

Prison, Apology Letters Part of Sentencing in Arson Case

A man sentenced to four years in prison for setting fires on other people’s land will also have to send apology letters to the DNR and the landowners.  Prosecutors accuse 46-year-old Daniel P. High Temps Cause Roads to Buckle

High temperatures caused more than 50 road buckles in Wisconsin last weekend.  The Department of Transportation says rising temperatures caused concrete plates underneath roadways to expand.  The department says elevated risks for road buckling is over.  The DOT’s 5-1-1 website will have the most up to date road conditions.

WI Drivers Rank high for Safety

Madison has some of the safest drivers in the US.  A new report from Allstate compares collision data from the 200 of the largest cities in the nation to see which drivers are most likely to get into an accident.  Madison drivers rank ninth safest, with Brownsville, Texas, and Boise, Idaho, at the top of the list.  Milwaukee ranks 59th.  Boston and Washington D.C. are at the bottom of the list.

Wisconsin is one of the most independent states in the country.  A new report from WalletHub compares all 50 states based on residents’ credit scores, median household incomes, and unemployment rates.  Wisconsin ranks ninth for being the most independent, with Utah and Colorado at the top of the list.  Louisiana and Kentucky rank least independent.

Stanley Man Found Dead Inside Truck In Chippewa River

A Stanley man is being identified as the person found dead inside a truck that was located Sunday in the Chippewa River.  Authorities responded to the scene in Rusk County with reports that a truck had been spotted upside down in the water.  A man found inside the vehicle has been identified as 71-year-old Thomas Wadzinski.  Authorities say it appears the truck entered the water without any attempt on the part of the driver to apply the brakes or make

Court Appearance Planned for Jackson Co. Arsonist

A sentencing hearing is scheduled today for a man convicted of setting of wildfires in Jackson County.  Those fires burned on county and private lands back in 2023.  Defendant Daniel Johnson pleaded guilty earlier this month to three counts of intentionally setting fire to another’s land.
