Wausau Babysitter Sentenced to Prison

It’s 43 years in prison for a Wausau babysitter in a child’s death. A judge yesterday sentenced Marissa Tietsort after her no contest plea back in November. Police say she killed the baby she was watching, then put the 11-week-old boy back in his snowsuit and handed him off to his mom. Tietsort never offered an explanation in the case.

Fishing Trip Could Reel in Real Prison Time

Dropping line could lead to time for a Osseo man. The state’s Department of Natural Resources says 31-year-old Carson Taylor from Osseo didn’t have a valid fishing license when he caught a 26-inch walleye from the east side of Lake Eau Claire last month. The DNR had revoked Taylor’s fishing license. Because Taylor was out on bond in another case, and because that bond required him not to commit any new crimes, Taylor could now be looking at three years

 About 150 Wisconsin National Guard troops are now certified nursing assistants.  The troops graduated this week. They were called-up and sent to training during the worst of Wisconsin’s omicron spike.  The troops were supposed to go to hospitals and long term care centers across the state to help overwhelmed staffers there.  But as of Thursday, there are just 316 people in the hospital with the coronavirus across the state, and 60 in the ICU.  Guard commanders yesterday said some of the troops will

WI Company No Longer Doing Business With Russia

Add Mercury Marine to the list of companies no longer doing business with Russia. Mercury’s parent company, Brunswick, yesterday said it is stopping shipments from all of its brands to Russia and Belarus. There are no Brunswick plants in either country. Many companies this week have joined economic boycotts against Russia because of the war in Ukraine.

Your window to become an owner of the Green Bay Packers has closed, for now. The team yesterday said fans snapped up nearly 200-thousand shares during their latest stock sale. La Crosse Extends Hotel Arrangement for Homeless Population

Homeless people in La Crosse are getting another month at a local hotel courtesy of the city. The city council last night agreed to continue their arrangement with the local Econo Lodge to house the homeless. Lawsuit Accuses WI Lawmakers of Aiding Insurrection

A new lawsuit accuses Wisconsin’s Republican U.S. Senator and two congressmen of aiding an insurrection. Minocqua Brewing Company owner Kirk Bangstad filed the suit yesterday. He says Senator Ron Johnson and congressmen Scott Fitzgerald and Tom Tiffany “conspired” to aid an “insurrection” by questioning the 2020 presidential election. Judge Rules Emails Be Turned Over in Election Probe
