Six Teens Involved in Crash, Fleeing Officers

New details are being released after a crash involving six teens in a stolen vehicle on the Beltline Friday.  According to the latest report, police were notified of the stolen vehicle out of Sun Prairie.  A chase ensued and the teens led officers onto the Beltline where they crashed into another vehicle near Monona Drive, and then ran away from the crash site.  Five of the teens were apprehended almost immediately and the sixth jumped off the Yahara River Bridge

Plans Underway to Compost Chickens

State agriculture officials plan to compost millions of dead chickens who were infected with bird flu at a Jefferson County farm.  The process of killing the nearly three million chickens is ongoing at the Palmyra facility.  The chickens will be transported to a field about eight miles down the road to be composted.  The state says composting is the most environmentally friendly way to dispose of the infected birds.

WI Tops for Docs

Wisconsin is a top-five state for doctors.  That’s according to WalletHub, which ranks Wisconsin the number-three state in the U.S. to practice medicine.  WalletHub says Wisconsin has the lowest malpractice suit payout amount per capita, the second-least expensive malpractice insurance rates, and the third-highest average salary for doctors.  WalletHub says the top state for doctors is South Dakota and the worst is Rhode Island.

DOJ Investigates Deadly House Fire

The Wisconsin Department of Justice is now looking into a deadly house fire in Juneau County.  The sheriff’s office says the fire broke out in Union Center early Saturday morning.  One person was found dead inside the house after the fire was put out.  The victim hasn’t been identified and the cause of the fire is unknown.

Man Facing Multiple Charges After Car Chase

A man’s facing several charges after a car chase across two southern Wisconsin counties.  The La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office says deputies started chasing the suspect Saturday night after he was seen leaving La Crosse County and entering Monroe County with no headlights on.  The sheriff’s office says the suspect was already facing charges for running from deputies earlier in the night.  The suspect reportedly drove over 110 miles per hour during the chase before being stopped in Leon.

Marshfield Uncovers Discrepancies After Clerk of Courts Retires

An investigation is underway after a new employee discovered records that raised questions and checkbooks didn’t add up. Sue Carlson served as the clerk of courts for the Marshfield Municipal Court for many years, retiring from this position at the end of 2020. The new Municipal Court Clerk almost immediately discovered severe discrepancies in the Court’s recordkeeping, dating back to at least 2010. Man Arrested After Chase, 6th OWI

Forty-eight-year-old Chad Weaver is facing multiple charges, including his sixth OWI, after fleeing from police twice Saturday night.  According to reports, police first tried to stop Weaver in La Crosse County, but he fled and got away.  Then, as he entered into Monroe County, again officers tried to pull him over, but he continued to flee, reaching speeds as high as 110 miles per hour, according to reports.  Finally, stop strips were deployed and Weaver came to a stop in

Ice Cited In EC Crash

Four people are recovering from injuries they suffered in a single vehicle accident in Eau Claire County this weekend.  Department of Transportation officials say it happened Friday morning on US Highway 63 Northbound near River Prairie Drive.  Altoona Police say it occurred on a bridge that spans the Eau Claire River.  They say the driver told them they hit a patch of ice on the road.
