Eau Claire is going to ask voters for more money this fall, but how much more remains to be seen. The city council last night approved a November tax hike referendum. There is no price tag yet, and there isn’t a specific list of just what the money will pay for. Eau Claire’s tax hike request comes as the city’s school district is looking at a tax increase question of its own. Polls suggest there’s not enough support for both.

Eau Claire is moving ahead with its coronavirus stimulus spending plan. The city council last night approved 13-and-a-half million-dollars in spending. The money is earmarked for the rest of the work on the city;s transit hub and a couple of new hires at city hall. That includes a new diversity, equity, and inclusion director.

Madison’s mayor wants new fines for people who harass election workers. Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway yesterday introduced an ordinance that will allow the city to fine people up to one thousand-dollars for threatening, screaming at, or being disruptive to election or poll workers. The mayor says election workers should not have to worry about doing her job. She didn’t, however, have any specific examples of harassment in Madison. The plan is set for a vote next week.

One Wisconsin state representative is once again talking about a do-over for the 2020 presidential vote. State Rep. Tim Ramthun yesterday reintroduced his resolution that would reclaim Wisconsin’s electoral votes. He says the Supreme Court ruling that declared ballot drop boxes illegal in Wisconsin means we cannot say who actually won the state two years ago. Ramthun tried to recall Wisconsin’s electoral votes earlier this year and was quickly told that cannot happen. Ramthun is running a distant third in the Republican race for governor this

Wisconsin’s public health managers have some simple advice for parents who are having trouble finding baby formula: Try something else. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday said parents should try another brand of formula, try foreign-made formula, or try breast milk if they cannot find formula in the stores. Parents have been struggling for months to find enough formula to feed their babies. DHS families with other questions should look into the WIC program.

There was another loose gator in Wisconsin, this time in Kenosha. David Prill says the small alligator named Chomper got loose while he was cleaning his pool. Neighbors found Chomper walking down the sidewalk. No one was hurt. Chomper was scooped-up and returned home. His adventure came after authorities found a gator swimming in a Fond du Lac County lake last week. That gator has been sent to an animal rescue in Michigan.

 Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers is in the double-digits of millions for fundraising for the election.  Today Evers announced he’s raised ten-point-one-million dollars in the first half of 2022.  That’s the most money any Wisconsin governor candidate has ever raised in the first half of an election year.  He says he has seven-point-six-million dollars cash on hand.

NASA is releasing new images from deep space thanks in part to a University of Wisconsin-Madison graduate.  Doctor Ken Sembach is the director of the Space Telescope Science Institute and helped launch the James Webb telescope back in December.  Sembach stood with President Joe Biden while the first images from the telescope were released Monday night.  Sembach graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1992.

The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin is having a sale on adopting adult dogs.  The Humane Society says all this week you can adopt eligible adult dogs at its main shelter in Janesville for just 50 dollars.  The Humane Society says photos are available online WITH AN EASY CLICK HERE.

La Crosse-based Kwik Trip is holding a sweepstakes in partnership with Winnebago to give away an RV.  Kwik Trip says every day customers can use the Kwik Trip app to play the Mountain Dew pull tab game, which earns entries into a drawing to win a 2022 Winnebago Revel.  The winner will be announced in late September.
