There’s a warning about a fungus that is killing bats in Wisconsin. The state’s Department of Natural Resources says white nose syndrome is devastating the state’s little brown bats. White nose first appeared in the state in 2014, and bat numbers have plummeted ever since. The fungus is not deadly per-se, but does stop bats from hibernating and that can lead to all manner of health problems. Agriculture officials act to contain cases of avian flu around Wisconsin.  Yesterday, the Department of Agriculture confirmed a second case in less than a month’s time of a domestic flock in Wisconsin becoming infected with the deadly virus from wild bird populations.  Doctor Keith Poulsen with the Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory advises domestic bird owners to be watchful to avoid the spread from the wild to the domestic environment.  The lab’s Facebook page has more information on measures that can be taken to curb the

Police in Janesville say they have three suspects in custody in a retail store arson investigation.  Yesterday, the JPD said the three juveniles under arrest are accused of intentionally setting Friday’s fire in the bedding section of the Kohl’s store in the Uptown Janesville Mall on Milton Avenue.  The store was evacuated, and one customer suffered an anxiety attack.  The 17-year old female and two male suspects, 15 and 11 years of age, face charges of Arson and Recklessly Endangering

A Stoughton man convicted of several bank robberies gets sentenced to time in federal prison.  In a federal courtroom in Madison on Friday, U.S. District Judge William M. Conley sentenced 52-year old Todd Templeton to 13-years in federal prison for two robberies in Wisconsin and one in Chattanooga.  Templeton committed those three robberies in 2021 while on supervised release after serving 11-years for two previous robberies.

 A Wisconsin girl is celebrating her birthday by donating over a thousand dollars worth of dog food to local animal shelters.  WKOW says five-year old Monae Lust told everyone she wanted dog food for her birthday so she could make a donation to Madison’s animal shelters.  The report says, after a social media push from her mom, she wound up getting 13-hundred dollars worth of dog and cat food.  Monae and her mom Julia delivered the pet food to three

Fire crews battle a blaze in a store at a Janesville mall.  Janesville Fire crews responded to the call yesterday evening at the Kohl’s in the Uptown Janesville Mall on Milton Avenue.  Firefighters say prior to their arrival the sprinkler system helped minimize the spread of the flames which had erupted in the store’s bedding section.  The store was evacuated and one customer suffered an anxiety attack.  There are no other reports of injuries from the fire the cause of
