WI Casino Aims High…Rollers

Milwaukee’s casino is about to add a whole new floor. Potawatomi Casino yesterday announced plans for a 100 million-dollar renovation. The idea is to re-do the casino’s third floor, add 18-hundred slots, a Starbucks, and a restaurant owned by Kiss frontmen Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons.  There are also plans for a high-rollers area and a new sports book. Potawatomi managers hope to be finished with the project sometime next year.

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire football team has announced the 2022 football schedule while the department has also announced a new radio partnership with Mid- West Family Broadcasting to air the Blugolds on WAYY Radio – Sports Talk 105.1 FM. 2022 Football Schedule The 2022 schedule features six home games including the season opener on September 3 rd against Loras College (IA). There is no word on a suspect in Sunday’s firebombing at the Wisconsin Family Action office in Madison. Madison’s police chief yesterday said investigators collect evidence at the office and have shared it with their federal partners. MKE Looks to Distribute Free Gun Locks

After a weekend that saw 16 people shot, including two teenagers who were killed, Milwaukee leaders are looking to gun locks to stop the violence. Wildfire Risk Remains High

Over 70 percent of Wisconsin, including a huge chunk of the western part of the state, is at a high risk for wildfires. The Department of Natural Resources yesterday said 52 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties are at high risk. The DNR says fire crews have had to battle over 250 wildfires so far this year. They say high winds, warm weather, and dry brush are making for a busy spring wildfire season.

Brett Favre is facing new questions about his role in a Mississippi welfare fraud case. The Mississippi Department of Human Services yesterday sued Favre and several others over 20 million-dollars in misspent welfare money. New Report Questions Rental Assistance Programs

There are questions about just how closely Wisconsin watched 96 million dollars for rental and energy assistance. A new report from the Legislative Audit Bureau shows a lack of consistency, and possibly people who were given money that they didn’t qualify for. Wisconsin spent 64 million-dollars on rental assistance from March through September of last year, and spent another 32 million on energy assistance. UW Survey Looks At Campus Climate

Most students continue to like UW-Madison, though more students say they don’t like the idea of campus police. The university yesterday released its second campus climate survey. It shows that 74 percent of students feel welcome on campus, 76 percent feel respected, and 77 percent feel safe.
