Exotic Pet Surrender Brings In Pets

Lizards, turtles, snakes, and even a salamander are part of the haul of Wisconsin’s latest exotic pet surrender. It happened Saturday in Bristol, in Kenosha County. The folks at J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue accepted exotic pets, no questions asked. They took-in 37 new animals that people no longer wanted or could care for. The animals are now all headed for new homes or J&R’s rescue operation.

Latest Polls Show Barnes With Lead Over Johnson

Two new polls give Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes an advantage over incumbent Ron Johnson for U.S. Senate.  A Marquette University poll puts Barnes who is a Democrat ahead by seven points while a Fox News poll has Barnes with a four-point advantage over his Republican rival.  The percentages from both polls are from registered voters in Wisconsin who were surveyed.  The results of both polls were published this past week.

Over 100 Years Of Business, Bankruptcy Proceedings Now Continue For WI Company

A more than century old manufacturing company in Janesville is in bankruptcy proceedings.  Yesterday the GazetteXtra reported that a bankruptcy court has placed Hufcor into receivership.  The report says Hufcor has been in business since 1900 making it the oldest continuously operated manufacturer in the country of accordion style space partitions. The family owned enterprise was sold in 2017 to L.A. based private equity firm, OpenGate Capital which has since farmed out all of Hufcor’s manufacturing to Monterrey in northern

Waukesha Deer Farm Sees CWD Outbreak

Several deer at a farm in Waukesha County have been sacrificed after an outbreak of chronic wasting disease there.  The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture confirmed the euthanizing of 20-deer in the herd, eight of which tested positive for the debilitating disease.  The Watertown Daily Times reported on Thursday that the farm operator will receive federal compensation for the loss.  The report says the farm won’t be able to keep and raise deer for the next five years as part of preventive measures

Officer Treated After Getting Dragged By Suspect’s Vehicle

A Madison Police Sergeant is recovering after getting dragged by a suspect’s vehicle. The MPD Sergeant responded to a domestic violence call yesterday morning when he caught up with the suspect and a passenger in a vehicle in a parking lot on East Washington Avenue.  The officer managed to get the passenger in the vehicle to safety but was then dragged around the parking lot before the suspect drove off and has yet to be found and arrested. WI Companies Recall Lard Products

Four Wisconsin companies are issuing voluntary recalls of lard products. These are Class I recalls, initiated based on evidence collected during routine inspections by state inspectors. Evidence shows that the products were not produced under a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) food safety plan. No illnesses have been reported as a result of consuming these products.
