Part of the Yahara Hills Golf Course is one step closer to becoming a new landfill. The Dane County Board last night okayed five-and-a-half million-dollars to buy a portion of the golf course. County leaders want to turn the land into a ‘sustainability campus,’ which includes a landfill and other sustainable businesses.

Don’t water-down baby formula, don’t make your own, and don’t hoard what you can find. Those are the big takeaways from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services’ advice to parents who are struggling during the nation’s baby formula shortage. DHS also says not to give babies under one-year-old any cow, goat, or plant-based milk. The other suggestions from the state include looking at smaller stores for formula and checking online before heading to a store just to see what they have.

There’s more to clean-up in western Wisconsin after the latest round of severe weather. Forecasters say a strong line of storms cut across the western part of the state yesterday evening and into last night. Many of the storms dropped hail, but also brought high winds and heavy rains. There are reports of flooded roads and downed trees, but so far there aren’t any reports of any injuries.

It’s probation for the young man who stabbed two people at Chippewa Falls’ skatepark back in 2020. A judge yesterday sentenced Terue Xiong to two years of probation and a week’s work of community service. Xiong  was convicted of the stabbings, which included one victim whose intestines were hanging out. Two other suspects in the same fight/stabbing were also sentenced to probation in the case.

The woman accused of a meth-fueled murder in Green Bay has once again been found fit enough for trial. A judge yesterday said Taylor Schabusiness passed a second mental health exam. Green Bay Police say Schabusiness killed a man back in February during a day of meth-use and sex. Investigators say she told them that she didn’t intend to kill the man, but said she couldn’t stop because she enjoyed it. She’s also accused of cutting the man into pieces

A judge says Wisconsin’s special investigator has ‘run amok’ in his look into the 2020 election. Dane County Judge Valerie Bailey-Rihn made the comments yesterday during a hearing on an open records request for former Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman. Lawyers for Assembly Speaker Robin Vos say they can’t force Gableman to turn over his phone, and they don’t have the authority to search it themselves. The judge is deciding if Gableman and Vos’ office have done enough to comply with

There are nearly three-times as many counties in Wisconsin on the high coronavirus level list than last week. The state’s Hospital Association yesterday said 18 counties are now considered to have high levels. That includes all of the southeastern Wisconsin counties. More people are returning to work in Wisconsin. The latest unemployment report shows the labor force participation rate in the state increased last month. Unemployment held steady. Wisconsin’s jobless rate for April remained at two-point-eight percent. Private sector employers in Wisconsin added 31 hundred jobs last month.
