The Wind Lake resident is a finalist to win $1 million on January 1, 2023, on live national television and earn the title – “Powerball First Millionaire of the Year®.” Selected from an estimated 21,000 Wisconsin entries on April 25, 2022, Hughes will represent the Badger State in the national VIP experience that includes winners from different U.S. lottery jurisdictions.

There’s a search for the suspect in last night’s stabbing at the Regency Inn in Eau Claire. One person was injured in the stabbing in the parking lot. Officers say the victim and the suspect knew each other, they say there’s no danger to the public.

Eau Claire city leaders are delaying a decision about a new bottled water plant for at least two weeks. The city council last night declined to vote on the request from a company working with Niagara to open-up a new facility on Eau Claire’s northwest side. There are some people who worry the plant will use too much of the city’s water supply. The vote is now scheduled for June 14th.

It’s the latest sign of the rainy spring in western Wisconsin. Forecasters say the Mississippi River is above 10 feet in La Crosse. That’s higher than normal, but still more than a foot away from flooding. The river hasn’t topped 10 feet in La Crosse since 2020. The high water is causing a few problems at a few riverside parks, but so far there’s no worry about widespread damage.

 A judge has dismissed the defamation case tied to Foxconn and some Racine County leaders. Mount Pleasant’s village attorney sued local blogger Kelly Gallaher over what she wrote on her website about the village and the Foxconn project. The judge yesterday said nothing that Gallaher wrote crossed the line. The judge says there is a different threshold for criticism for public officials. And he said while village leaders may not like it, public criticism comes with the job. Gallaher said

Wisconsin is in-line to get just over 325 thousand-dollars as part of a settlement over Ford truck commercials. Attorney General Josh Kaul announced the settlement yesterday. Kaul joined the lawsuit led by Oregon, Texas, Illinois, Maryland, Vermont and Arizona over Ford’s claims about fuel mileage and towing capacity. The A-G’s say Ford was promising numbers that its trucks could not deliver. In all, Ford will pay the states about 19 million-dollars.

Giannis is once again a unanimous selection for the All NBA team. NBA writers announced the team yesterday. Giannis is the only unanimous four-time selection since the 1980 season. Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and James Harden were all unanimous three-time selections.

On Monday May 23, 2022, at approximately 5:37PM, the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a one motorcycle accident, with injuries to the operator. The crash occurred on STH 121 near Owinsand Road in the Town of Dover. The lone operator, 21 year old Ivan Garcia Rivera Bryan from Independence failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, causing his 2015 Yamaha motorcycle to leave the roadway.
