Chippewa Co. Woman Sentenced for Deadly Crash

It’s six months in jail for a Chippewa County woman for a deadly 2017 crash. A judge sentenced 23-year-old Miranda Miller to jail time and three-years probation for the crash. Police say Miller ran a stop sign in the Town of Colburn in July of 2017, crashing into and killing 46-year-old Jeremy Goodwin. Miller told police that she was looking at her phone at the time of the wreck.

Reward Offered in Office Firebombing

The head of Madison’s pro-life group says city police and the governor don’t seem to be interested in solving the firebombing at their office.  Wisconsin Family Action’s Julaine Appling yesterday offered a 15 hundred-dollar reward for information in the case. Appling says she’s offering the money to help move the investigation along. Inheritance Tied Up in Murder Case Arguments

The daughter of the couple murdered at the UW Arboretum may have to fight for her parent’s money. Miriam Carre is Doctor Beth Potter and Robin Carre’s daughter, she was also the girlfriend of the man who shot and killed them back in 2020. She is named as the beneficiary in their will, but a family friend is challenging her inheritance. Miriam Carre testified against her parents’ killer at his trial, and was granted immunity. Environmental Lawsuits Settled

Wisconsin can close the books on nine environmental lawsuits. The legislature’s Joint Finance Commission yesterday agreed to settle all nine cases. The payouts are not large, they total just 378 thousand-dollars. The cases were brought against farms, a waste solutions company, and the city of Elkhart. State law requires the legislature to okay any settlement of any lawsuit brought by the state attorney general’s office.

WI Political Season Heats Up

Today could be the day for Milwaukee to finalize its bid for the Republican National Convention. The city council could vote on the contract with RNC planners today. Though no one is sure what will pass. Several aldermen want a six million-dollar payment to host the convention, others don’t necessarily support the Republican Party. UW Stout Veterans Club Places Flags Locally

In remembrance of Memorial Day, members of the University of Wisconsin-Stout Veterans Club supported the Dunn County Veterans Service Office by placing U.S. flags at gravesites in five area cemeteries during the holiday weekend, honoring 108 county veterans. Fire A Reminder Of Grilling Safety

 An east Madison home has thousands of dollars worth of damage after a fire caused by coals from a grill.  The Madison Fire Department says firefighters were called to a home in the 700 block of Bewick Drive late Saturday night where they found a trash can on fire.  The fire department says someone put burning coals from a grill in the trash can, causing the fire.  The fire did about 25-hundred dollars worth of damage to the home.

MN Man Arrested in for OWI in WI

Erraactc driving lead to the arrest of a Minnesota man. It was at approximately 2:26 pm, Monday May 30th when the Wisconsin State Patrol took multiple reports of a vehicle traveling westbound on I-94 near Wilson, that was swerving all over the road and traveling on the shoulder. A Trooper was able to locate the vehicle, illegally parked partially in the roadway of the I-94 exit 16 off ramp. A subsequent investigation including standardized field sobriety test was conducted.
