WI Coronavirus Hospitalizations Hold Steady

Wisconsin is starting the week with just under 400 people in the hospital with the coronavirus. The state’s Hospital Association on Friday reported 384 people are in the hospital with the virus. That includes 62 in the ICU. The 384 hospitalizations is about where Wisconsin was with the virus in August of last year.

We celebrate Father’s Day on Sunday, but why? Well, its origins are not well-known.  This year officially marks the 50th anniversary of the day dedicated to dads.  It wasn’t until 1972 that Father’s Day was recognized as an American holiday after being signed off by President Richard Nixon.  Sonora Dodd, the daughter of a Civil War veteran, is credited with organizing the first-ever one back in 1910 to honor her own father, and wanted the day to be in June.

Fire Remains Under Investigation

A fire does about $10,000 in damage. On Saturday June 18, 2022 at approximately 1:18PM the Eau Claire Fire Department responded for a report of a structure fire at 314 5th Avenue. Upon arrival fire crews reported a working fire in the basement of a 2.5 story residential tri-plex. Deadly Crash in Dunn Co.

A deer is behind a fatal crash in Dunn County. An eastbound passenger vehicle struck a deer and stopped on the right shoulder of interstate 94. The passenger vehicle then traveled in reverse into the left lane where it was struck by an eastbound commercial motor vehicle. Juneteenth Flag Flies at WI Capitol

Group Marches After Campus Attacks

Students march down State Street in Madison demanding an end to Asian hate crimes.  The UW-Madison students staged the Stop Asian Hate march yesterday after several Asian students were attacked and beaten in three separate incidents the past two weeks.  Police investigators don’t believe the attacks were only racially motivated but the student protesters claim the attacks targeted Asians.  The students have launched a petition on Change-dot-Org calling for UW officials to protect Asian students and to act accordingly to

Power Restored Across State After Storms

All Madison Gas and Electric customers now have power back after this week’s storms.  The utility says the final customers that were without power got their lights back on early this morning.  Just after Monday’s storms nearly 18-thousand homes and businesses lost power.

Langlade Co. Deer Farm Depopulated After CWD

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) confirms that a Langlade County deer farm that tested positive for chronic wasting disease (CWD) in 2021 has been depopulated. None of the 47 deer that remained at the property tested positive for CWD. The 6-acre farm had been under quarantine since CWD was detected in August 2021, meaning no animals or animal carcasses were permitted off of the property.
