A lawsuit filed on Monday accuses several agencies in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area of civil rights abuses.  Plaintiff Sam Wolk claims they were “unreasonably exposed” to pepper spray and tear gas while particpating in demonstrations following the death of Daunte Wright in April of 2021.  Wolk said officials shot them in the knee with a rubber bullet from less than ten feet away, causing chronic pain.  Wolk’s lawsuit was filed the same day Raven Bartz filed one against the

There’s a wrongful death lawsuit from a 2019 officer-involved shooting in Eau Claire County. Tyler Meier’s family filed the lawsuit this month. They want police in Augusta and the sheriff’s office in Eau Claire County to pay for his death. An Eau Claire County deputy shot and killed Meir after he attacked the deputy. Police in Baraboo have identified one of the suspects in this month’s zoo break-in. Officers yesterday said 34-year-old Aaron Hovis broke into the Ochsner Park Zoo on June 7th and freed some animals. He let a pair of otters and a pair of owls go. The otters and one of the owls have been returned to the zoo, one owl is still not back in captivity. The superintendent in Sparta schools is on leave after an outside investigation found complaints of threats, intimidation, and aggressive behavior. Superintendent Amy Van Deuren says all of the teachers and school administrators who spoke to investigators told one side of the story, she’s denying all of the claims against her. The first legal challenge to Wisconsin’s abortion law could be filed this week. Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin’s Michelle Velasquez said on Sunday that they are finalizing their legal strategy in the state. Abortion became illegal in Wisconsin when the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade last week. Wisconsin’s governor yesterday said he is looking for ways to fight the abortion law that is on the state’s books.

Wausau schools could be bringing-in an outside expert to help boost security. Wausau Superintendent Keith Hilts says they are looking at a school safety audit. The move comes after last month’s school shooting in Texas. Hilts says they would first take a look at the access points of schools and the district’s emergency plans. There’s no word what the audit would cost.
