We now know who was involved in a deadly Chippewa County crash. Sheriff Hakes saying that on Sunday July 5th 2025, at about 2:03PM, the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a 2 vehicle crash with both vehicles overturned, multiple subjects trapped in each vehicle, and one vehicle on fire in the Town of Delmar on CTH H near 110th Ave. Both occupants in one of the vehicles were trapped and one of them, Ayden Nicpon age 19 from Thorp,

In Monroe County, authorities say they have gotten to the bottom of thefts committed at last month’s Sparta Butterfest.  Police received reports on the morning of June 7th that items had been stolen from multiple vendor tents.  Sparta Police say they have identified four suspect offenders who range in age from 12 to 15.  The case has been referred to Monroe County Human Services for action.

Sentencing is being ordered for a man recently convicted on drug charges in Jackson County.  Authorities say they found heroin, marijuana and a loaded firearm inside a bag belonging to 44-year-old Thomas English during a traffic stop.  English was found guilty on charges including possession with intent to deliver narcotics and has been sentenced this week to serve two years in prison.  Prosecutors had asked for a longer sentence.

County Board Chairperson Nancy Coffey has announced the names of the final candidates for the  position of County Administrator. The Board’s Committee on Administration, which has been leading the search, met on  July 8 to review applications for the position, ultimately advancing four candidates for further consideration. The  Committee is hoping to recommend a candidate to the full Board for confirmation later this month. The next County  Administrator will replace Kathryn Schauf, who announced her retirement earlier this year.   In

Sheriff Brian Schmidt and Chief of Police Michael Hauschild are pleased to announce a joint drug  distribution investigation was conducted by the Price County Sheriff’s Office and the Phillips Police  Department. This investigation began in March of 2025. As a result of this investigation, numerous  residential search warrants were executed within and around the City of Phillips. A second Republican is entering the race for Wisconsin governor.  Bill Berrien a manufacturing executive and former Navy SEAL living in Whitefish Bay, announced his candidacy today.  He says he will focus on creating high-paying jobs, lowering taxes, and supporting law enforcement in Wisconsin if elected. Republican Washington County executive Josh Schoemann launched his campaign in May. Incumbent Democratic Governor Tony Evers is eligible for a third term, but hasn’t announced if he will run again.

A Labor Day weekend tradition in Eau Claire is moving forward with help from the L.E. Phillips Career Development Center (CDC).  Recently, CDC formed a partnership with Special Olympics – Eau Claire Adults 3-06 to organize the Buckshot Run and add a new chapter to its decades of history at Eau Claire’s Carson Park. A Menomonie firefighter and his K-9 are among the first responders being dispatched from Wisconsin to help aid in Texas search and recovery efforts.  More than 100 people have died and at least 160 are missing after weekend flooding in the central part of the Lone Star State.  Lieutenant Andrew Kissh and his K-9 named Reaper left for Texas early yesterday as part of Wisconsin Task Force 1.
