The tariffs are TARI-ble? Many Wisconsin farmers remain critical of President Trump’s tariffs, saying the trade war they’ve set off has tanked prices on farm products.
Trump has announced a 12-billion dollar plan that would borrow money from the U.S. Treasury to pay producers of some crops, including corn, soybeans, dairy and, pork. The USDA will also buy surplus crops that would normally have been exported. The third part of the plan is to help farm groups develop new export markets. Many farmers say aid isn’t enough, and that they want an end to the trade war.
