WI On Track for Rail Improvements

Wisconsin is receiving more than 140-million-dollars in federal funding for rail improvements.

The state DOT will receive the funds to overhaul up to 41 Charger locomotives serving Amtrak routes in the Midwest and Pacific Northwest.  Amtrak’s Hiawatha line between Milwaukee and Chicago will also receive new trainsets to help meet growing demand.  The award comes as part of a nearly five-and-a-half-billion-dollar federal investment aimed at improving rail safety, upgrading infrastructure, and reducing delays nationwide.
