A vehicle was recovered from our local waters.
Below is the information from Sheriff Hakes:

Recently Anthony Janicki contacted me to inform me while he was out fishing on Lake Wissota (Chippewa River) he discovered what he believed to be a submerged vehicle while using his side imaging. Anthony sent me the information, and I began to coordinate with the local Department of Natural Resource wardens, the Chippewa Fire District, and personnel from our Office.
A plan was made with the Chippewa Fire District Dive Team and our Office to recover the vehicle today. The Dive Team was able to locate the vehicle near a private boat landing in the Town of Eagle Point. It was discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen from the Village of Lake Hallie in September of 2024.

The vehicle was removed from Lake Wissota by Steve’s Towing of Chippewa Falls.
The case was closed by Lake Hallie in October of 2025, when they referred criminal charges to a suspect they had identified during their investigation. The recovery of this vehicle helps bring closure to the victim of that case, as the vehicle location has now been discovered.
Due to the registered owner(s) being the victim of a crime, I will not be releasing their information. Should anyone have further questions regarding the criminal matter, I will refer them to the Lake Hallie Police Department, as is their case.
