Governor Tony Evers is making sure help is available to Wisconsinites impacted by this week’s strong storms.
Evers signed an executive order declaring a State of Emergency yesterday, noting this week’s severe weather damage and flooding across the state. He said extra emergency personnel will be needed to help with the aftermath of the weather, including improving response times and helping with the recovery process. Evers mentioned some parts of Wisconsin also dealt with evacuations and record rainfall.
For example, residents in Sussex are cleaning up the mess left by a radar-confirmed tornado. Crews were out yesterday morning working on downed power lines and trees that toppled over during Tuesday night’s severe weather. Some homes saw the siding ripped off, but it’s unclear if the tornado led to any injuries. The National Weather Service was also expected to be on the ground in Sussex to see the extent of the damage. Another tornado was confirmed in the town of Waterford in Racine County.
