The Wisconsin Supreme Court is taking up an appeal in a second lawsuit challenging the state’s lame-duck laws.
The move by the high court yesterday is considered pretty rare because they decided to take up the appeal voluntarily without any motions from the parties involved. The case argues that parts of the GOP laws violate the constitutional separation of powers between the executive and legislative branches. The laws passed by the GOP in December undermine some of the powers of Democratic Governor Tony Evers and state Attorney General Josh Kaul.
