Sturgeon Spearing Season Opens in WI

The sturgeon spearing season gets underway this morning at Lake Winnebago. 

With that comes a reminder from the Wisconsin DNR that no ice is ever 100-percent safe.  Officials urge sturgeon spearers to check with local guides or lake associations before taking an ATV, snowmobile or similar vehicle onto the ice.  The spearing season closes March 1st unless one of the harvest caps is reached earlier.
