When someone comes to the L.E. Phillips Career Development Center’s Outreach Office in Chippewa Falls for help, Homeless Services Coordinator Karri Pitsavas knows there is a chance he or she may not have a place to stay.

Among the 20-50 people she sees each day, she believes as many as half could be homeless.
“It’s a struggle,” she said. “I know I can’t help everybody, but I do my best. If I can’t, you know, get them into a motel, I can send them with resources on other agencies that may be able to. If not, I will give them the resources, items they may need just to get them through the day and go from there.”
Limited funding has compounded the problem, making this year’s 100 Nights of Shelter campaign all the more important. The goal is to raise enough funding to provide 100 nights of emergency shelter for people in Chippewa County between Thanksgiving and March 6, 2026.
L.E. Phillips Career Development Center is tracking the progress of the campaign with a calendar and filling in each night with dots. A red dot on a particular date shows that date is partially funded. A green dot shows a date is fully funded.
There are multiple ways to help:
-Donate through the landing page bit.ly/CDC100nights (case sensitive)
-Encourage your employer or a group or organization you are involved with to sponsor a day or multiple days on our calendar
-Share and like the posts about the 100 Nights of Shelter campaign from the CDC Outreach Office Facebook page (facebook.com/CDCOutreachOffice)
-Encourage friends, family, co-workers, teammates and others to support the cause
