The St. Croix County Emergency Communication Center received a call at about 6:32 p.m. on, October 19, 2025, reporting a one vehicle crash on County Road E at the roundabout, near
the entrance to northbound State Highway 35-64, in St. Joseph Township.
Deputies arrived on scene and located a 2006 Honda Element, which had been traveling eastbound
on CTH E at the roundabout, and began to enter northbound onto STH 35-64. The driver then lost
control, entered the east ditch and rolled.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Paul D. Paulson, age 85, from Houlton WI. He was
extricated from the vehicle, and transported to Regions Hospital by ambulance. He was wearing a
seatbelt at the time of the crash.
On Saturday, October 25, 2025, Mr. Paulson died at Regions Hospital, as a result of the injuries
sustained in this crash. This crash remains under investigation.
