Fire Closes UW Hall

We now have more details about a small fire today at UW-Eau Claire’s Schneider Hall. The Hall is closed for the remainder of the day after a small electrical fire was extinguished on the first floor of the building shortly before 10 o’clock this morning.

Faculty, staff and students safely evacuated the building, and no one was injured in the incident. The building is closed to the public until further notice.

UW-Eau Claire Police and the campus Facilities team worked closely with the Eau Claire Fire Department to secure the building, and electrical service to Schneider and the Flesch Family Welcome Center is temporarily interrupted due to the incident.

Interim Provost Mary Hoffman will be communicating plans for classes affected by the closure of the building with faculty, staff and students later today.
