Health officials are confirming the first case of human West Nile Virus in Eau Claire County this year.
West Nile virus is spread to people through the bites of infected mosquitoes. The CDC advises folks to take steps to protect themselves from being bitten. This includes the use of insect repellents, the wearing of long, loose-fitting shirts and pants so it is harder for mosquitoes to bite your skin and the use of screens on windows to keep mosquitoes outside.
