Crane Dies from Avian Flu

Ducky, an endangered whooping crane at the International Crane Foundation, has died of avian flu.

The ICF was planning on releasing Ducky back into the wild this fall.  Ducky is the first whooping crane to die of the strain.  Only about 700 wild whooping cranes are left in North America.  Ducky was born in May as part of the ICF’s breeding and reintroduction program.
