Enrollment numbers at eight University of Wisconsin schools are up from last year.
Preliminary estimates report that new freshman enrollment rose by at least five percent at the eight universities, two percentage points higher than the overall system’s increase in freshman enrollment. President Jay Rothman says the numbers are a sign that Direct Admit Wisconsin is attracting new students. UW La Crosse is setting a new record for first-year students. Last fall, the campus hit a new benchmark for the number of first-year enrollees with 23-hundred-25. With classes having begun last week, the campus broke that record with 23-hundred-85 first-year students.
