A fire causes about $100,000 dollars in damage. Below are the details from ECFD:

At approximately 10:11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, the Eau Claire Fire Department was dispatched to 801 W Shorewood Drive for reports of smoke and flames coming from a storage unit.
Responding units included Battalion 1, Chief 2, Engines 9, 10, and 2, Medics 9 and 10, Trucks 5 and 8, along with support from the Eau Claire Police Department. Police officers arrived first and confirmed heavy smoke and flames visible from one of the end units at the facility.
Engine 10 was the first fire unit on scene and confirmed a working fire that threatened nearby units. Crews initiated an aggressive fire attack while coordinating with facility staff, who confirmed the affected unit was renter-occupied with unknown contents.
Firefighters faced challenges due to the unit being tightly packed, which limited access and created an uncertain fire load. Despite these conditions, crews were able to force entry, suppress the fire, and protect surrounding units from fire extension. A skid steer provided by the City Streets Department assisted in removing contents during overhaul operations.
No injuries were reported. Medic units were on standby as a precaution. The fire was declared under control approximately 20 minutes after arrival.
The facility manager and unit renter were notified, and an investigation is underway by Eau Claire Fire Department’s Inspection Division to determine the cause of the fire.
