The Eau Claire Children’s Museum is proud to highlight the success of its LEGO Spike Clubs, innovative after-school programs now offered at Flynn Elementary and Sam Davey Elementary Schools within the Eau Claire Area School District (ECASD). These engaging clubs run for six weeks, meeting twice weekly for 1.5-hour sessions, and provide children in grades 1, 2, and 3 with hands-on STEAM-based learning entirely free of charge.
Each club serves 15 participants, with robust waitlists reflecting widespread interest—9 students for Flynn Elementary and 17 for Sam Davey Elementary. Staffed by the museum’s STEM Educator & Outreach Manager Katie Julsrud, along with 2–3 Educational Assistants per session, the LEGO Spike Clubs offer an encouraging and collaborative environment for young learners to explore coding, robotics, and engineering using LEGO Spike Essentials.
Made possible through generous grants from the Pablo Foundation and Lippert Foundation, these programs ensure that schools, families, and the district incur no costs, while providing high-quality STEM education that fosters creativity, confidence, and critical problem-solving skills.
