The Wausau Police Department is trying to help the city of Wausau solve its problem of not having a homeless shelter.
The department for the time being has opened a temporary shelter for those that are homeless. For the next eight months, The First United Methodist Church will be the home for the shelter. It will open May 1st and stay open until December 31st. The department plans to find a permanent home as well during this time.
