On Tuesday March 25th, at approximately 4:51 p.m the Eau Claire Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 2232 Trimble St. Truck 5 was the first arriving unit and found heavy smoke coming from the front door of a single story residential house with an active fire in the kitchen. Crews quickly entered the structure and extinguished the fire with a water extinguisher, containing the fire to the kitchen. Additional crews worked quickly to complete a search and ventilate smoke from the residence.
All occupants had evacuated prior to arrival but 1 dog and 2 cats were rescued and returned to their owner. One firefighter sustained a minor injury that required medical attention. The fire is currently under investigation.
