Crews Respond to Water Rescue

On Sunday March 9th, 2025, the Eau Claire Fire Department (ECFD) responded to 520 Carson Park Dr for an ice & water rescue for an individual that fell through the ice near Braun’s Bay Pavilion.

First arriving fire crews and several Eau Claire Police Department members discovered one victim in distress in the water holding onto an ice shelf 75 yards from shore. Fire crews immediately deployed an ice rescue craft, navigated over the ice and through open water to rescue the victim. The victim was brought to shore where they were assisted off the ice and into an ambulance for evaluation and treatment. The victim was able to be released from the scene.

Ice conditions on Eau Claire lakes and rivers are changing rapidly with the warm weather and are extremely hazardous.
