WI DNR Plans Burns

News | February 11, 2025 | 0 | by Morgan McCarthy
WI DNR Plans Burns

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is starting to work on prescribed burns in natural areas across the state.

DNR officials say some locations have gotten adequate rain, allowing fire management crews to start burning off dead vegetation in specific areas.  The burns typically start with cattail marshes, wetlands, and prairies because summer wildfires in those spots can be hard to control, according to experts.  DNR leaders say they will post signs and notify the public when any of these controlled fires are planned near roads and recreational trails.  They also notify local law enforcement and update locations on the prescribed fire dashboard AND YOU CAN CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION.
