Downtown Parking Discussion Circles the Meeting Table

The downtown parking survey is making its way through the Eau Claire City Council.

During a meeting on Monday and Tuesday, city council members took a liking to the survey, which found about 80-percent of survey respondents identifying parking as an issue.  Some of the problems include the confusion in different rules, under utilization of spaces, and the current paid structure.  But there is an explanation to the under utilization.  Council member Joshua Miller said there is an inverted pricing structure, which means parking further away from business is more expensive. The city council will vote whether or not to accept the survey in February to potentially guide any future policy making.
