Donald Trump will be sworn in today as the 47th President of the United States.
The day starts with a church service at St. John’s in Washington, DC, before President Biden welcomes Trump for tea at the White House. Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance will then head to the Capitol for the inauguration, which is set to be held inside because of brutally cold temperatures.
Trump is scheduled to be sworn in at around 11:45 a.m. Eastern before giving remarks. Once Trump takes the oath of office, he’ll officially become the second American President to serve two non-consecutive terms.
With a Wisconsin connection, the garbage truck that Donald Trump used to make a statement before a Green Bay campaign stop last fall is making an appearance in Washington today. Andrew Brisson with Loadmaster, the Upper Peninsula company that supplied the vehicle, says he is driving the truck in the Presidential Parade following the inauguration. The Trump team set up the photo op back in October in response to a statement from President Joe Biden that suggested Trump’s supporters were “garbage.”
