Lawmakers Connect Bills to Family Budgets

Democrat lawmakers in Madison are introducing a set of measures aimed at reducing various costs for residents.

The bills cover programs that the party has supported before, including free school lunch and breakfast and reduced prescription drug prices.  Another proposal would provide tax relief to more lower-income homeowners and renters by extending the Homestead Credit Program to individuals making up to 35-thousand dollars per year.  Politically, it is unlikely that Democrats will get much support for the initiatives from Republicans who control the Wisconsin Assembly and state Senate.
