More than 17-thousand Wisconsinites would quit smoking cigarettes if menthols weren’t available.
That’s according to a new Wisconsin Department of Health Services report. The DHS study shows menthol cigarettes are disproportionately advertised to communities of color, contributing to smoking rates that are nearly twice as high among African American Wisconsinites. The department is launching a digital education and outreach campaign to prevent the use of menthol cigarettes in affected communities.
