Students Speak Out, Protest in Madison

Several hundred Madison Metropolitan School District students are voicing their concerns of gun violence following Monday’s shooting at Abundant Life Christian School.

Students from West High School made speeches on campus on Friday to begin the protest.  From there, they led those gathered on a more-than-two-mile march to the State Capitol.  Protesters led chants such as “Books, not bullets” and “No more silence, end gun violence.”  A moment of silence for the shooting victims and families was held when they reached the Capitol.  A student and a teacher were killed, while six others were injured, including two still in critical condition.
