A house fire had crews on scene this afternoon.
Marshfield Fire and Rescue initially responded with 11 personnel to a report of a house fire at 708 N Maple Ave., with the fire located in the basement.
Upon arrival heavy black smoke was showing from all sides of the house. Firefighters made entry and located the fire in the basement, which they quickly extinguished. Other firefighters made entry to search for any trapped people, which they did not find anyone. The fire was contained to the basement and all smoke was ventilated from the structure.
The occupant was located at the neighbor’s house and stated that everyone who lives in the house is accounted for and safe.
American Red Cross is assisting the family. A total of 16 fire personal responded from MFRD throughout the duration of the incident. MFRD was on scene for 1.25 hours. The origin and cause of the fire is still under investigation.
