A local lawmaker takes a proactive approach in addressing the public after money issues circulate in his campaign.
Senator Jesse James (R-Altoona) issued the following statement regarding missing funds from his campaign:
“I take pride in being an open and honest elected official.
“Last month, I discovered that $32,000 was withdrawn from my campaign account without authorization over the course of 2024. The money was withdrawn by my campaign treasurer, who is my daughter. I have taken immediate steps to ensure my campaign account is in compliance with the Wisconsin Ethics Commission. That process is ongoing.
“All improperly withdrawn funds have been returned.”
“The core tenet of my philosophy as a legislator, and as a law enforcement officer is that nobody is above the law. This circumstance is no exception. I have filed a police report with the Altoona Police Department and an investigation is ongoing.”
