It’s here! Thanksgiving 2024 is as late as it can be, but it’s arrived!

We hope you are set to enjoy the holiday with a heart as full as your belly today. Thanks for spending a little time with us.

As we reflect on the blessings in our life, we’ll take a minute to also look at the day and what’s going on around the Union as people prepare to dish up, chow down and take time to give thanks.

First of all, why? Thanksgiving Day, annual national holiday in the United States and Canada celebrating the harvest and other blessings of the past year. Americans generally believe that their Thanksgiving is modeled on a 1621 harvest feast shared by the English colonists (Pilgrims) of Plymouth and the Wampanoag people

In case you still haven’t made it to where you’re going on this Thanksgiving, have patience – a potentially record-setting number of travelers are out and about this year.

If you are staying put, but brining New York into your home, they’re prepping for a soaker. Despite some rain, the 98th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade kicks off at 8:30 this morning in New York City. Scott Pringle reports.

While enjoying those plates, food safety experts are urging Thanksgiving cooks to take health precautions while preparing their holiday meals. Tammy Trujillo has details.

If movies are part of your Turkey Day traditions, “Moana 2” is set to rule the box office over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

The sequel to the Disney blockbuster made an estimated 54-million dollars on opening day Wednesday, and is expected to take in at least 170-million dollars over the long holiday weekend, beating the Thanksgiving record held by another Disney sequel “Frozen 2.”

Locally, you could launch your holiday spirit tonight as well with a tour of lights! The new drive-thru Lights in the Valley is almost ready for visitors. The light display is brand new this year. It’s set up at the Eau Claire County Expo Center. Drivers will be able to cruise through the lights, and get an almost 360 degree look at some holiday cheer. Tickets are 20 dollars per-car. And for many, a trip to Chippewa Falls will happen with the official opening of Irving Park and the Christmas Village.
