Governors in Iowa, Nebraska and Wisconsin have all declared states of emergency as historical flooding is taking its toll on the Midwest.
Three people have lost their lives so far and hundreds of others are being forced out of their homes as water is flowing over from both the Missouri and Mississippi river basins. Heavy rain and melting snow contributed to the swells of the Missouri River in Nebraska and Iowa, as it’s already over two feet above the previous record. Near Omaha, much of the Offutt Air Force Base is underwater, and waters aren’t expected to recede until Thursday. The base is home to strategic nuclear forces.
