AREA HELP FOR FLOOD VICTIMS: SAND, SHELTERS, SHOVELS…

The City of Arcadia is dealing with city-wide flooding because of snow melt.  Many residents are experiencing flooded basements and have been moving their things to higher ground.  Some are evacuating altogether.  The American Red Cross has a shelter set up in the city for those displaced by flooding and it says it expects about 26 people to come.

Altoona is offering its residents free sandbags to deal with flooding.  There are two stations in the city, one at the highway department building on Spooner Avenue and one at Lake Altoona County Park on beach Road.  Anyone getting sand is asked to bring their own shovel.
