Verizon Wireless and a Kansas-based construction company said yesterday that a subcontractor of theirs was working at the site before the explosion that killed firefighter Cory Barr and injured 15 others.
UPDATES: Sun Prairie firefighter Ryan Welch is out of the hospital after being seriously injured in an explosion. Welch was brought to Fire Station One yesterday by a procession of emergency vehicles along streets lined by dozens of cheering residents. A post on a GoFundMe page to support Welch’s recovery said that Welch has burns on his face, a broken jaw, lost teeth, and injuries to his hands. The explosion was set off Tuesday night by a gas leak, killing firefighter Cory Barr and injuring several others.
